McKinley Middle School is located in the center of Racine. We celebrated our 90th birthday this year! Our school is an International Baccalaureate candidate school*(see note below) meaning we work in collaboration with families & the community to provide quality programming that prepares all of our students to be confident, successful, lifelong learners who can apply their learning to benefit the world around them and prepare them to be college and/or career ready. In addition, our staff utilize active & engaging instructional strategies that are tailored to meet the needs of individual students. To that end, we have supports & services for students who are English Language Learners, students who are Gifted & Talented, and students with disabilities.
Our school logo is the Viking and our school motto is "Everyday is a great day to be a Viking! Make great choices and have a great day."
McKinley Middle School is a candidate school* for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that McKinley Middle School believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme.
